The Hawai‘i Island Beacon Community invites you to an exclusive discussion with renowned author and presenter Doug Krug who will share insights learned from designing and implementing successful healthcare initiatives for the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services. This includes the Organ Donation Initiatives and the foundation for Medicare’s current ‘Partnership for Patients’ initiative; as well as a new initiative from Medicare to transform long-term care.

Milestones Illustrate Health Care Transformation on the Big Island
Hilo, Hawai‘i (June 4, 2012)—Over the past two years, the Hawai‘i Island Beacon Community (HIBC) has achieved several significant milestones with health care transformation activities designed to achieve the triple aim of: better care, better health, and lower costs. As part of the national three-year Beacon Community Program from 2010-2013, HIBC is working to build and strengthen Health Information Technology (Health IT) infrastructure and information exchange capabilities; turn investments in Health IT into measurable improvements; and test innovative approaches for improving performance, linking technologies and improving care.
